School Statement

In 1980 faithful to the frontier spirit of our founder, Fr. Andreas Amrhein, four of our sisters forged ahead in response to new a challenge to open themselves to a mission in Kenya East Africa, upon a invitation of our late Cardinal Maurice Michael Otunga. The place of landing Ruaraka and it was in Ruaraka that after seeing the poor children one of Kenya's densely populated slum that a need for providing the foundation of all leaning that is the kindergarten was realized.

The kindergarten became functional under the stewardship of Sr. Magda OSB and 10 teachers with 100 children in five classes.

In the year 2000 the Nairobi priory gave in to the call of parents for the continuation of a Benedictine education for the children and therefore Sr. Emily Macharia OSB after a good research set the way for the primary school and the dream has so far been realized through God's loving ways and through efforts of our benefactors, parents and sisters who continually through prayer and work manifest our oneness with the church of the poor by making ourselves present to our people. We involve ourselves in our students' empowerment through our participation in our students/pupils education thus contributing to the transformation of the Kenyan society.

The education ministery is a challenge because the world is on the move, the change in the 21st century is even greater than that of the late 20th century, we have to change again moving St. Scholastica's to an academy giant and a communitty of whole persons. On the other side this is a privilege and a joy because as Benedictines we are ever on the fore-front as committted, effective and responsible agents of transformation and change.
