Lourdes Hill College, Brisbane enables the students to perceive and express a religious and in particular, Catholic vision of reality. They are prepared to walk in friendship and to live the Benedictine Gospel values in their daily lives. The spirit of the Good Samaritan is evident as our College strives to build a true community of students, parents and staff with varied gifts and backgrounds. The gospel spirit of mutual respect, freedom, optimism and resurrection is reflected in the College curriculum, in liturgy, in service and in efforts for social justice. Lourdes Hill is a place of educational expertise promoting life long learning. While the proud traditions of the past are valued and built on, the school has a vision of the future to anticipate and devise for the changing needs of the students and the school community. In that spirit, we welcome international students. The Lourdes Hill Boarding community strives to meet the special circumstances of students who must leave home to attend school, but is currently phasing out the boarding school. The college intends to be pro-active in meintaining our ministry to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Young women are given the opportunity to pursue academic excellence and personal fulfilment in a culturally rich environment. They are helped to participate actively in religious, economic, political and social aspects of our society, seeking to address injustices, both local and global. Students are encouraged to seek truth and human wisdom and enlightened by Benedictine values, to express themselves with confidence, independence and humility. Particular attention is given to the education of our girls in becoming active, vibrant women in the global catholic church. Lourdes Hill is situated on the cliffs above the Brisbane river in the suburb of Hawthorne, four kilometers from the city. Our surrounds call us to play our part as stewards of a beautiful part of God's creation. | |||
